Meat Gravy - Taandile
- 1 lb. meat - cut into half inch cubes (round steak works well)
- 1 small onion (chopped)
- 2 tbsp. flour
- 2 or more cups of water
- salt to taste
Put meat in skillet and cook, stirring occasionally until the juice that runs from the meat has evaporated. If too greasy, pour out part of the grease. There should not be much more than a tablespoon left. If there is not enough, you can add about a tablespoon or so of oil. Sprinkle the flour over the meat and stir while the flour cooks a little. Add water and bring to a simmer. Cook until thick as you like. Salt to taste.
- 1 lb. of lean ground beef can be used in place of the round steak.
- 1 lb. of kidney trimmed of fat and cut into small pieces can be used in place of the round steak.
- 1 lb. of potato, peeled and cut into small cubes and sauteed with a couple of tablespoons of oil can be used in place of the round steak.
